About
Valley Flower is a five-piece string band formed in 2023 when friends with roots in Virginia, North Carolina and Minnesota came together in the Central Texas bluegrass scene. Led by Rose Lichtenfels on vocals, fiddle and rhythm guitar, the band also features Jonah Calvo on fiddle and dobro, Joe Wurst on lead guitar, Scott Stegall on banjo, and Phill Brush on bass. They describe themselves as grassy, folksy and groovy, cross-pollinating iconic Appalachian sounds with contemporary country, folk and jam influences. Valley Flower released their self-titled debut album in January 2025, which landed on Spotify's New Grass playlist, followed by the single Lost and Lonesome Ways in May 2026. The band has earned residencies at Austin's largest Americana venues and has opened for national touring acts.
