“Jesus, King of Phoenix” by Red McAdam

Although born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, Red McAdam was reared on country and folk music by his parents. His father, a lifelong bass player, taught him mandolin, banjo, bass, and guitar. After years of musical restlessness and burnout, McAdam moved to Flagstaff, Arizona during the pandemic and eventually landed in Austin, Texas, where he now lives outside the city in his 1976 Dodge Jamboree. His playful outsider country music draws from traditional honky-tonk and Western swing alongside indie rock, R&B, and beyond. McAdam released The Late, Great Delta 88 Band in 2023 and Cosmic Western Gothic in October 2026.
